Bag of Books Fundraiser: Excuses for NOT coming

Excuses for NOT coming to the Bag of Books Fundraiser

There are all sorts of reasons why people aren’t coming to the Bag of Books and silent auction fund raiser this week.  We thought we’d share a few that we’ve heard.

Bag of Books fund raiser

It’s too far.

It’s a 20 minute metro ride to Porte de St Cloud or a lovely bike ride along the quai de la Seine from the center of Paris. Or take a bus: 22, 62, 72, 126, 175, 189, 289, 426. There is generally parking on the street available on our street (42 rue du Chemin Vert Boulogne-Billancourt) or one block over. Get Directions

Plus you’ll get to see the gorgeous fountains of the Porte de Saint Cloud

It’s outside Paris.

Boulogne starts – and Bill & Rosa’s Book Room is located – just on the other side of the Péripherique. From the metro there’s a foot bridge to cross the dreaded highway and after that it’s a walk in the park – literally. The whole walk from the metro is 5 mintues.

I am busy that day.

The event lasts FOUR DAYS there must be one day which you can come. Thursday the 11th Friday the 12th Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th? 2.30-6.30 each day.

I think €25 is expensive.

Bring a BIG SHOPPING TOTE! If you fill your Bag of Books it’s about one euro per book! Even if you only put five books in your bag that’s still just five euros per book. In any case it’s a fund raiser and your donation goes to worthwhile Anglo organizations in Paris. (PS: we’ve had book donations in Danish, Norwegian, Italian, German and French as well.) AND Sunday the 14th after 5pm a bag is HALF PRICE!

I don’t have room for 25 new books.

Give some away as gifts for friends.

I don’t like books.

Come for the SILENT AUCTION there’s vintage items, artwork, kids games, a beautiful green evening bag and lots more. You could do your Christmas shopping.

A few of the Silent Auction items. There are also other handcrafts, tea towels, japanese tableware…

I’m not interested in the silent auction.

Come for the COOKIE SALE on Saturday and Sunday. Homemade cookies made by our volunteers!

Who doesn’t like homemade cookies??!!

I’m not interested in shopping.

Come for the community, to meet the volunteers from SOS Help and AAWE they are some of the nicest, most welcoming people in Paris. You can find out about their organizations.  SOS Help is always looking for listening volunteers and AAWE has many different programs, socials and activities.

We hope to see you at the Bag of Books fundraiser sale. If you have an excuse we haven’t heard yet add it below.
