Language Editors (remote)

Astronomy & Astrophysics (A&A) is hiring Language Editors

A&A is an academic journal based in Paris, France, that publishes high-quality research in English in all areas of astronomy and astrophysics. In recent years we have worked hard to increase the quality and scope of our language editing service, and we are now looking to fill two freelance language editing positions.

Responsibilities:

The primary task is editing and proofreading scientific papers for correct, clear, and unambiguous English (US or UK) and correcting to A&A house style. The hired freelancer would be assigned between 30 and 60 « pages » per week (each page is expected to take approximately 20 minutes to edit).
Requirements:

– You are a native English speaker.
– You are educated to at least the university level and have previous professional experience of proofreading and editing, ideally of scientific literature.
– You have an exceptional eye for detail.
– You can build good working relationships even when interactions are remote (email, Slack, Zoom).
– You are self-motivated and can work efficiently without close supervision.

Desirable:

– You may have English language teaching experience, a scientific background, or a working knowledge of French.

Remuneration:
– EUR 10.76 / page.
